bitMPC for Android

MPD (Music Player Daemon) client for Android. It supports file browsing, search by tag and URL playing. Podcast management for server playing is included. This software is fully Open Source.

bitMPC is a graphicalMPD client suitable for any Android platform from Android 1.5.
Application goal is almost fully MPD server control, with minimum battery consumption and mobile device space.
bitMPC clients features RSS subscription management with server PodCast resources playing from client.
bitMPC name comes from the union of "bit" prefix (common prefix in all bITendian applications) whit MPC (Music Player Client) acronym.
Application can be downloaded for free from Android Market in last stable version - project is currently in beta stage -, and can be downloaded for free from bITendian web in last development version.
Application was designed and written at bITendian (www.bitendian.com) by Juanan Guerrero (jguerrero@bitendian.com), with priceless partners contributions, and the wish to offer it with Open Source license.

MPD features

  • Plays Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, WavPack, MP2, MP3, MP4/AAC, MOD, Musepack, wave files and any other files supported by FFmpeg.
  • Remotely control MPD over a network (IPv4 and IPv6 supported).
  • Play FLAC, OggFLAC, MP3 and Ogg Vorbis HTTP streams.
  • Reads and caches metadata information (ID3 (id3v1 and id3v2)), Vorbis Comments, and MP4 Metadata.
  • Metadata information can be searched.
  • Buffer support for playback (prevents skipping due to high load or network latency).
  • Gapless playback.
  • Crossfading support.
  • Seeking support.
  • Save, load, and manage playlists (in M3U format).
